Why use an AMC?

Compliance, loss mitigation, lowering costs, are just some of the major reasons to use an AMC. Not to mention it's like having multiple services and a large panel of appraisers in your pocket that you didn't have to put together yourself.

You have to choose one; either create your own in-house separation between appraisers and the loan officers or you can use an AMC. Using your own internal process represents some complications, for instance banks and credit unions are not permitted to bill the borrower for the cost of the appraisal, forcing it to often be absorbed by the bank. Not to mention staffing, training, appraiser vetting, billing, accounts payable, the list goes on… The cost of just these items is already stacking up and all just for one department for getting appraisals done.
